Attention! Toad Migration

Dear Guests,

As happens every spring, a special natural spectacle begins when temperatures reach around 10 °C: the amphibians make their way to their spawning grounds. To protect our natural environment while ensuring you can still find your way to us safely, dedicated volunteers are on hand to guide the animals safely across the road.

We ask for your support during this time to foster a strong community:

Caution on the access road:
Please drive only at walking speed and follow the instructions of our volunteers at the roadside.

New parking rules:
During peak hiking activity, access to the parking lot will be completely closed in the evenings between 10:00 PM and 7:30 AM. During this time, it is not possible to exit the parking lot—please use the nearby alternative parking lots in a timely manner (approx. 5-minute walk).

Be considerate on foot and by bike:
Even when not in a car, we ask that you stay on the paved paths and watch carefully for animals on the ground.

Thank you very much for your consideration and understanding—we look forward to your visit!

Who is Oberta?

Perhaps you have already seen me in one or two posts. Or maybe you know me as the iron statue right in front of my home, the Oberschweinstiege.

For those of you who don't know me:

I am Oberta, a cheerful pig from Frankfurt's city forest. My home is the Oberschweinstiege, surrounded by greenery.

My favorite color is green 💚
Because green means nature, life, and the future.

I love my forest!
Here, the leaves rustle, birds sing, and many animals have their home.

To keep it that way, I am committed to:

  • Environmental friendlines
  • Protection of nature and animals
  • Mindful treatment of our environment
